The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill two (2) regular, full-time positions in the class of Legal Process Clerk I at the Yolo County District Attorney's Office.
Definition:
Under close supervision, and on a training basis, accepts, processes, produces, and files documents related to the establishment and maintenance of a court-related legal record; assists in performing daily office functions; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Statement:
The ideal candidate for this position will be a team player who is excited about starting a career in the justice system and serving the public by providing excellent and professional customer service. They must answer and route incoming calls on a multi-line phone system with professionalism and enthusiasm and will be an enthusiastic and adaptable professional with exceptional multitasking abilities and writing skills. They must be able to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with others, have strong attention to detail; have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and have the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. They must be able to use sound judgement in applying appropriate laws, regulations and policies. Preferred software knowledge for the position includes word processing, spreadsheets and database programs.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the entry and trainee level class in the Legal Process Clerk Series. Incumbents in this class are required to learn to perform a combination of various court-related legal clerical functions of minimum to average difficulty.
Experience: One (1) year of general clerical experience.
Substitution: A year of full time education beyond high school may substitute for the required experience.
Typing: Must type a rate of not less than 35 net words per minute.
Knowledge of: modern office methods and equipment; alphabetical and numerical filing; basic arithmetic; correct use of the English language, including spelling, punctuation and grammar; general knowledge of the court and criminal justice systems.
Ability to: type accurately from clear copy; understand and follow written and oral instructions; learn and develop skills prioritizing, maintaining, and coordinating a heavy workload; deal with the public in a professional and tactful manner; use independent judgement; work with a variety of California statutes and local ordinances; maintains the confidentiality of court-related records; perform simple to average court-related legal clerical duties; operates a computer terminal; be accurate in performing duties; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, including attorneys, coworkers and the general public; work with a variety of state statutes and local ordinances; read and write at the high school level.
License: Some positions in this classification may require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Were you hired into a CalPERS or other public agency reciprocal system for the first time on or before January 1, 2013? If so, you most likely have "Classic" member status. Classic members of CalPERS (or CalPERS reciprocal) agencies who come to work for Yolo County will remain Classic members!

Safety: 3.0% at 55
Deputy Sheriff Safety: 3.0% at 50
"New" member CalPERS retirement formulas (for employees hired into a CalPERS agency for the first time after January 1, 2013) are:
Misc: 2% @ 62
Safety: 2.7% @ 57
