Summary

POSITION PURPOSE:

This is a position for individuals with applicable industrial and/or tire manufacturing related experiences. This position will support product development initiatives and production through recommendation, examination, and review of new and repaired molds. This position will work in a team environment, leading modifications to existing molds and presses, introducing new mold and press features for industrialization, and utilizing global standards and processes to approve production capable designs. Responsible for all aspects of the molding process including, but not limited to, set-up and tear down, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and workflow.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain mold technical design related standards
• Arranging trial or initial production of new molds and arrange repairs needed for molds to be released to production
• Use analytical tools to recommend mold changes that meet internal and/or external customer requirements
• Support and enhance processes, methods, and procedures significant to molds and molding of new products
• Present mold change requirements and recommendations to Lead Engineer
• Work in a team environment towards bringing new mold designs and technologies to the production process
• Presentation of data in a clear and effective manner
• Gather all needed information to assist with improvements in the mold shop
• Monitor proper handling and usage of machines and equipment, tools and support materials, factory supplies, and other utilities to maximize the useful life
• Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment including immediately correcting or reporting safety issues
• Troubleshoot and correct mechanical deficiencies, electrical and pneumatic devices
• Promotes good working relationship among all support groups (Engineering, Plant Control, Quality, Maintenance)
• Maintains 5S environment throughout work area
• Performs other task and assignments as assigned by Manager
• Able to work nights and weekends as necessary

Knowledge and Skills

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Good knowledge of structural mechanics and dynamics
• Good knowledge of data analysis tools, especially Microsoft office and Mini tab
• Basic applied statistics, Design of Experiments, cause-and-effect analysis; risk analysis; lean principles; FMEA
• Ability to accomplish assignments in a logical fashion, using existing technology and standardized methodologies
• Strong communication skills [written/oral] in presenting data and information to others

Education and Experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 3 years’ industrial / manufacturing experiences
• 5 years’ experience with tire industry products.

Physical Requirements

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Possible overseas training and training in Continental U. S. up to 4 months or as needed.
• Domestic and overseas travel as needed (up to 15%).
