Under the guidance from the Wellness Director, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for programming, promotion, supervision, and evaluation of fitness staff and personal training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist the Director in planning and implementing health and wellness programs and initiatives.
• Create wellness staff and personal training schedules.
• Attend regular scheduled “Management Team” meetings.
• Attend appropriate and required trainings.
• Assist Director with maintenance of staff records in accordance with any and all regulatory agencies and the YMCA.
• Assist as needed in completing payroll on a weekly basis for the Wellness Department.
• Promote the “YMCA Story” with all involved in the program.
• Maintain safe program areas, including indoor and outdoor areas, YMCA and non-YMCA facilities, and equipment.
• Maintain clean centers and help to monitor cleaning maintenance crew.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, maintenance log, troubleshooting broken equipment, and dispatching a vendor to fix if needed.
• Follow accident reporting procedures and policies.
• Follow systems, practices, and training related to risk management and safety of participants and staff.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified as a Personal Trainer
• Ability to lead boot camps
• Must have at least a high school diploma/some college preferred 
• Must be able to interact appropriately and professionally with members as well as YMCA staff and YMCA community partners.
• Must be able to follow instructions regarding policies and procedures of the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge. 
• Must be willing to function as part of the team and able to communicate effectively with staff, program participants, members, and vendors in a variety of situations.
• Must be willing to learn new skills both on and off the computer and should enjoy varied assignments and multi-tasking.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of office environment and meeting deadlines.
• Must be dependable, mature, responsible, have the ability to use good judgment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

• Required skills in all Microsoft Office and Excel applications and other software required and on the job training will be provided as needed.
• Must be able to operate a calculator, computer, fax machine and copier.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be flexible with changes in tasks required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
