Maintains and monitors a safe exercise setting, while providing individual attention to the total wellness of members and clients.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

• Ability to hear, talk, stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste and smell.
• Ability to use hands to finger, handle, and feels
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
• May be exposed to varied temperatures, chemicals, moving mechanical parts and electrical machines.
• Ability to communicate and motivate members/clients

QUALIFICATIONS

• CPR and First Aid certified.
• Must obtain YMCA Personal Trainer Certification within 1 one of employment or hold a current nationally recognized Personal Training Certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists members on the proper use of exercise equipment.
• Gives sound health and fitness training and advice to members/clients.
• Attends staff meeting and trainings as scheduled.
• Offers and provides spotting to members.
• Provides general maintenance and organization to exercise area and equipment.
• Provides a safe, clean area for members to exercise.
• Maintains current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Stays current with the latest safety information and research in the fitness industry.
• Notified supervisor of any damaged equipment or shortages.
• Wears appropriate exercise attire and footwear.
• Arrives 5-minues prior to appointment start.
• Motivates and encourages participants with positive feedback.
• Executes Branch emergency plan as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
