YMCA of the Triangle is Hiring a Homeschool Teacher-Homeschool Hub-Northwest Cary YMCA Near Cary, NC

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Homeschool Lead Teacher, the Homeschool Teacher is responsible for establishing a learning environment where students of diverse abilities feel safe, cared for, and are excited to learn. Homeschool Teachers must run the program with the safety in the forefront and provide a quality experience to children and parents.

They are responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and the Board of Directors of the YMCA.

Job Schedule (days): Monday; Tuesday; Thursday; Wednesday

Job Schedule (hours): 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. flexible hours based on class schedule

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Maintains regular, clear and concise communication with students, families, teachers and program administration at all times.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and inclusive classroom culture where all students are welcome, utilizing collaborative problem solving to support students when needed.
  • Plans, prepares and delivers high-quality and engaging instruction that aligns with the stated class description and is developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Supervises students and maintains safety during transition times.
  • Adheres to program quality and fidelity standards.
  • Attends all required staff meetings and completes required trainings.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience leading a classroom in an academic setting and working with learners with diverse abilities highly preferred.
  • Previous experience planning and implementing highly engaging lessons.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.
