YMCA OF THE TRIANGLE AREA is Hiring a Pool Facilities-Ingram Family YMCA Near Sanford, NC

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Pool Facilities Operator maintains safe water quality standards at the YMCA pools, adhering to all appropriate health department regulations. They will assist in the daily operations of the pools in accordance with established policies and expectations. 

They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains proper pool chemistry and circulation at all times
  • Performs daily water quality tests and adjusts chemical feeds as necessary
  • Inspects automatic chemical feed system, pumps, motors, fittings, and hardware
  • Performs regular facility safety inspections
  • Assists in regular pool maintenance and cleaning
  • Handles all chemicals according to safe handling guidelines
  • Maintains records of daily upkeep and quality checks
  • Works closely with other facility and aquatics staff teams
  • Provides initial response to calls for service from aquatics staff, assesses needs, and takes corrective action
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to contribute to overall exceptional member service
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Pool Operator certifications from the National Swimming Pool Foundation in compliance with local health codes
  • Minimum or 3 years’ experience in aquatics or facility management experience are required
  • Working knowledge of swimming pool water chemistry
  • Professional, courteous, friendly, and able to relate well to the public while enforcing branch policies in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills 
  • Clear and concise communication skills
  • Proven ability to determine and set priorities; as well as the capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Possess a high level of initiative and proactivity, competency in pool facility operations, professionalism, a positive attitude and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required

  • Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard. 
  • Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatics environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. 
  • Remain alert with no lapses in consciousness. 
  • See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility. 
  • Move objects with a weight of up to 50 pounds. 
  • Compliance with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question and/or hire.
