YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is Hiring a YMCA Community Outreach Summer Level Up Program Facilitator Near Evansville, IN

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position will work at one of the following schools in a summer reading loss prevention program called Level Up for Grades: Caze, Fairlawn, Delaware, Evans, Glenwood, Chandler, and Oakdale Elementary. Opportunities include the roles of morning assistant teacher and afternoon enrichment staff. Some staff may work within both roles and receive up to 35 hours per week. This program runs Monday - Friday starting Tuesday, May 30th to June 30th.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
  • Complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
  • Classroom and activity set up as needed
  • Cafeteria supervision daily
  • Classroom aides will Provide support to EVSC and WCSC teachers during a summer academic program from 8:00am-11:30am serving 1st - 3rd graders in a classroom setting
  • Afternoon enrichment staff will provide 4.5 hours of activities including character development, physical activity, nutrition, art and music through predetermined lesson plans and curriculum
  • Actively supervise outdoor activity areas including sports fields and playgrounds
  • Provide on site supervision for community field trips
  • Execute YMCA approved behavior management systems
  • Have complete knowledge of emergency procedures appropriate for the individual site (as provided by emergency authorities) to ensure the safety of the child
  • Must maintain active involvement in the daily activities of Level Up Sites
  • Provide positive daily interactions with all students, especially those within the group under his/her care

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Outdoor activities will be required, and employee must have reasonable tolerance for occasional heat, wind, rain, and other weather conditions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required before/on first day of working with youth
  • Should be able to relate well to children and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Must have general knowledge of the YMCA’s mission
