YMCA of South Alabama is Hiring a Youth Services Coordinator Near Foley, AL

Job Title: Youth Services Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Hourly
Reports to: Branch Executive Director Revised: 05.2024
Position SummaryThe Afterschool and Summer Day Camp Coordinator shall be responsible for the daily operation of the Summer Day Camp and After School Programs within one branch of the association, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children enrolled and direct supervision of program staff. The coordinator will oversee the development, administration, management, delivery, and evaluation of a high-quality, Summer Day Camp and After School Program within a single branch of the YMCA of South Alabama, following YMCA Guidelines and core value alignment.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with children and adults.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in child development or childhood education preferred.
  • YMCA child watch management experience preferred.
  • Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills.
  • Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Summer Day Camp, After School No School Day, Specialty camp and Kids' Fun night out programs, which may include weekend hours.
  • CPR/O2 and First Aid/AED certifications required before working with YMCA children.
  • Must have the ability to respond to safety and emergencies.
  • Continually promote the values of inclusion and equity among all participants.
  • Responsible for supervising and demonstrating the ability to set and maintain limits for children using positive reinforcement. Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Create systems and processes around staff coverage, data collection, recruitment, and retention.
  • Supervise proper maintenance of equipment, clean-up of work and play areas and inventory, and ordering of supplies and snacks
  • Plan, implement and attend appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and/or families regularly; provide an ongoing network (formal and informal) of support for program parents.
  • Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintain ongoing contact with supervisor and appropriate staff at all levels of the YMCA.
  • Attend and host staff meetings as required.
  • Ensure that the proper procedures regarding bus use are always followed.
  • Participate and volunteer in the YMCA annual fundraising campaign. Campaigns may include site event fundraisers and Y fundraising events.
  • Act as a professional role model. Maintain good public relations with parents and school personnel, understand that you represent the YMCA, and maintain a cheerful disposition, demeanor, and attire.
  • Respond to communication from supervisors, staff or YMCA parents within a 24-hour business day.
  • Continually enhance professional development through workshops, educational courses, and/or appropriate reading material.
