Dive into a fun summer job at the YMCA as a junior lifeguard! If you love to swim and care about the safety of others, this summer role is the perfect fit for you. Gain the technical and interpersonal skills required of a lifeguard and learn about water safety and swim instruction. Your primary responsibilities will include: assisting certified lifeguards in monitoring the pool area and enforcing safety rules, alerting certified lifeguards of any emergencies that may arise, interacting with members and guests in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions, and promoting water safety awareness. Graduates of this program will build confidence and improve leadership skills in and out of the pool and have the opportunity to be a certified Y lifeguard in the future!
The Junior Lifeguards (age 14 ) are aquatics leaders in training. They will have opportunities to learn from certified, seasoned lifeguards, enjoy fellowship with their peers, and have fun while staying cool by the pool. The Junior Lifeguards will receive aquatics, leadership, and professional training that challenges them to grow as individuals, serve their aquatic programs, and build community by acting as positive role models.
