YMCA OF PIERCE AND KITSAP COUNTIES is Hiring a Camp Custodian 1 Near Gig Harbor, WA

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Camp Custodian to join our team!

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As Custodian at Camp Seymour,you will work with our facilities team to perform the necessary functions and activities required to keep the facility clean inside and outside such as upkeep of the building, operating cleaning equipment, and following all safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all duties as required by supervisor on weekly work assignment list and maintain upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
  • Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, vacuuming carpets, cleaning windows, cleaning spills, sweeping or mopping floors, removing scuff marks from walls and floors, cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, gum removal, dusting, odor control, and trash removal.
  • Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Assist other departments and branches as needed for ongoing or special events.
  • Make a note of requests by staff and members and report those to your supervisor, on work assignment list. Record and report all needed repairs and additional cleaning needs on assignment list. Report to supervisor conditions that require an immediate response. Repair and clean as directed.
  • Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and proper manner. Notify supervisor of any repairs needed.
  • Use proper techniques and procedures, and maintain a clean work area to ensure safe working practices and environment.

    • You have knowledge of cleaning methods and custodial, maintenance, and office equipment.
    • You have a basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
    • Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day of employment and other online or in-person training as required.

    Wage: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on qualifications

    Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

    Location: Camp Seymour, Gig Harbor, WA
