Overview

Summer Day Camp Program Leader

Summer camp is fun; that's a fact. As a staff member at our YMCA of Northern Colorado Day Camps you'll participate in games, crafts, archery, nature discovery, teambuilding, and so much more! 

Salary range $16.00 - 18/hr based on experience, qualifications, and availability. In addition, we offer a 10% differential for bilingual staff who test as fluent in Spanish and English. Staff working more than 10 hours per week may sign up their children or siblings for free YMCA camp too! More about this in the benefits section.

Shifts vary by site between 7:00am and 5:30pm M-F. Part time and full time summer seasonal positions are available up to 40 hours a week. No weekends (except one required weekend training May 19th)! This position is seasonal May 28th through Aug 9th with training May 20-24th and we anticipate openings for the school year in our before and after school programs.

Responsibilities

You'll help to create a positive environment where staff and campers enjoy safe adventures, make new friends and have amazing experiences every day. We are looking for people who are passionate about fun, the outdoors and day camp. Come join our camp family for one of the most enjoyable and rewarding summers of your life.

  • Program Leaders independently lead and supervise children in small and large group activities
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations,

child abuse prevention and emergencies.

  • Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community

members.

  • Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records
  • Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including

full days.

  • Provides leadership and support to Program Aides and Volunteers
  • Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural

consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures and expectations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Age 18 years or older.
  • Provide documentation of 480 hours of experience working directly with school-age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting.
  • Become certified or supply documentation of current certification in CPR and First Aid (can be complete through the YMCA).
  • Work well on a team, communicate well with youth, parents and colleagues, and be committed to high quality programming.

Benefits

All Employees receive a free individual membership and anyone working 10 hours receives a free family membership, 50-100% off our programs and if eligible, we contribute the equivalent of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund.

Part-Time employees also receive paid sick time at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
