Position: Nurse

Salary: $1100/weekly (Stipend)
This is a seasonal position for the months of June through August 2024.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is currently hiring a Summer Camp Nurse/Camp Health Supervisor. The nurse will:

• oversee overall camp health at YMCA Camp Letts in Edgewater, MD.
• Oversee 4-6 EMT's/paramedics
• Be available on Sunday-Friday on call to provide consultations as needed on emergency pediatric care in a camp setting
• Oversee and assist with medication administration to campers
• Communicate with parents, counselors, and directors on any health concerns
• Be available during check-in on Sunday afternoon to supervise medication drop off and health screenings
• Sign off on the overall camp health plan and standing orders
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and well-supplied health care facility
• Maintain health forms, health logs, medication administration records, and accident/incident reports in a confidential and timely manner.
• Provide health care coverage and act in on call manner to be available for emergencies, illnesses, inpatient care, sick calls, and transport of a patient to an off-site health care facility.

What you need to be a Camp Nurse

• Certified as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practitioner or Physician
• 21 years of age or older
• Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting
• Meet the county/state licensing requirements
• Able to effectively communicate with children and parents
• Understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to Y character development

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to pick-up at least 35 pounds
• Must have visual acuity to observe all children
