POSITION SUMMARY

The Get Summer Lead is responsible for creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all program participants. Responsibilities include monitoring program, providing program information, participation in weekly meetings, and administrative duties as assigned. T his is a seasonal position beginning ASAP and ending August 16, 2024.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • AGE: Must be 21 years of age or older
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent
  • CERTIFICATIONS: YMCA Team Leader Certification, preferred
  • SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Strong character values, strong communication skills, emotional maturity

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Create a welcoming environment for all program participants.
  2. Build Programming for middle and high school students.
  3. Establish Teen Culture in YMCA amongst various program areas.
  4. Process participant registrations, promptly, accurately and thoroughly.
  5. Proactively connect and monitor program participants to develop and support the achievement of their goals.
  6. Responsible for building small communities by facilitating connections with and between participants.
  7. Plan and execute volunteer opportunities in conjunction with Regional Teen Director.
    1. Assist in the recruitment and processing of volunteer advisors using designated software.
  8. Assist participants with their questions and monitor activity in assigned areas.
  9. Respond promptly and courteously to all to all complaints, compliments and inquiries while following the appropriate procedures at all times.
  10. Communicate with branch staff to build teen programming for the summer.
  11. Build connections with schools and other community partners.
  12. Document progress of program in accordance with grant, via photos and videos.
  13. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  14. Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
  15. Demonstrate the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness) as well as the YMCA Core Values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
  16. All other duties assigned by your supervisor.
