Assistant Camp Director 

Are you passionate about providing children with unforgettable summer experiences in a safe and nurturing environment? Join us at YMCA Childcare as an Assistant Camp Director. Your role will be pivotal in assisting the Camp Director in overseeing daily operations and ensuring campers have a fun-filled and enriching summer camp experience.

Position Overview: As an Assistant Camp Director, you will:

  • Assist the Camp Director in daily operations and management of the summer camp.
  • Ensure campers are divided into age-appropriate groups and that daily activities are implemented.
  • Train and supervise part-time Camp Group Leaders with the assistance of the Camp Director.
  • Manage opening and closing responsibilities, including pick-up and check-out procedures.
  • Assist with supply inventory, ordering, storage management, and coordination of grounds maintenance.
  • Ensure safety, supervision, and program implementation for campers, including swimming days.
  • Maintain accurate daily counts of children and create pre-made samples of daily activities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Must meet state licensing standards with Texas Department of Safety and Health Services or Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
  • Minimum age: 21 years; High School Degree/G.E.D. or higher education.
  • At least 1 year of previous management experience in childcare.
  • Ability to work outdoors for most of the day and lead activities, including swimming days.
  • Basic computer skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to serve as a role model for youth.
