YMCA OF MEMPHIS AND THE MIDSOUTH SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
SUMMARY OF POSITION : Joining our energetic and cause-driven team, the Summer Camp Counselor position plays a vital role in being a difference maker for children.
An exceptional camp experience comes from more than well maintained facilities and great programming; it takes the right people.
This position requires active supervision and participation with you in a variety of indoor and outdoor summer camp activities including sports, arts & crafts, field trips and swimming.

PAY RATE : $ 12-15
CAMP DATES : May 20, 2024 - August 2, 2024 All staff must be able to attend training on either May 4, or May 11, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
- High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
- Previous experience working with school age children; preferably in a day camp setting
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas : outdoor living, camping, songs / music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certification and Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire date.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor / indoor activities
- Ability to attend the mandatory summer day camp training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Lead and / or participate in all group activities with active supervision of all assigned campers
- Handle all disciplinary problems according to camp policies
- Responsible for all camper’s safety at camp, busing, field trips, or any other activities
- Assists in the maintenance of cleanliness of camp locations
- Ability to attend staff meetings and complete all required training
