CHILDCARE SERVICES - ENRICHMENT SPECIALIST

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Enrichment Specialist position will work with an energetic and cause-driven team to support enrichment programming in Before and After school and Summer Camp programs. This role will include planning and implementation of a specialized program segment ranging in areas of STEAM, Arts & Theater, Music, Literacy, and Health and Fitness or Sports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops a curriculum related to the specialty program allowing for flexibility and progression.
• Submits to supervisor weekly program plans, materials list, and including the objectives to be accomplished.
• Assists in staff training to demonstrate specialized activities in relation to the overall program
• Responsible for the setup and breakdown of the specialty area, aid for the maintenance and control of supplies and equipment
• Assists with the implementation of the overall afterschool program.
• Attends staff meetings, training sessions as required.
• Ensures the YMCA and school district standards and regulations are met.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Minimum of 1 year work experience in childcare, education, recreation or related field is required
• Knowledge, experience, skills, and all necessary requirements related to the specialty programming are required.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with peers, parents, and community stakeholders
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to identify problems and develop appropriate solutions

WORK SCHEDULE:

This part-time position is a Monday - Friday position. Must have before & after school and summer camp availability.

Before & Aftercare:

Before care is from 6:30 am until the start of school.

After care is from the end of school until 6:30 pm.

Summer Camp:

Summer Camp - between 8am - 4pm

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping
• Some Exposure to the outdoor elements
• Exposure to electrical/mechanical mechanisms
• Exposure to some chemical elements
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
