YMCA of High Point is Hiring a Sports Coordinator Near High Point, NC

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Association Sports Director, the Sports Coordinator assists and leads with the day to day operations of the youth and adult sports programs, ensuring the programs are safe, exceptional quality while meet the overall goals of the program and the YMCA mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Adheres and complies with the YMCA of High Point Employee Manual, Policy & Procedures Manual, and Code of Conduct.

2. Assists and leads with youth and adult sports programs, including setting up, taking down, and maintaining fields and facilities, ensuring activities and events are performed on a timely basis, responsible for maintaining and setting up program equipment for games and practices, and providing exceptional customer service to coaches, parents, staff, YMCA members and officials.

3. Makes supervisor aware of any potential conflicts and if need be, addresses these conflicts with volunteers, participants, coaches, officials, parents, and staff.

4. Maintains and completes game records, scores, incident and accident reports and other information essential to the sport.

5. Assists and leads part-time staff making sure they are using time efficiently and if need be, asking staff to leave when not needed.

6. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions; maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility; mains clear line of communication with Branch Director and other staff during programs regarding potential disturbances, i.e., unruly spectators who are not following the code of conduct.

7. Coordinates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Schedules parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.

8. Assists officials with making sure they are aware of the rules of the game and that the officials help explain calls to participants to make sure we are in line with being a developmental program.

9. Coordinates, and effectively distributes team practice and game schedules; schedules sports officials and distributes/educates sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.

10. Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes
team photographs. Is provided opportunities to learn about the budget as well as what budgeted amounts are allowed to be spent.

11. Organizes season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.

12. Implements and monitors schedules inside and outside with trouble shooting abilities when needed.

13. Organizes, schedules, and leads sports clinics.

14. Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.

15. Attends and helps lead staff meetings and trainings as required by supervisors.

16. Conducts behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the YMCA.

17. Assists in all other programs and functions of the Branch as deemed necessary or appropriate by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum age of 21.

2. Completion within 30 days of hire CPR/First Aid/O2 Certifications. Redwoods Trainings: Managing Your Risk of Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Appropriate Touch.

3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

4. Basic knowledge of rules, regulations and implementation of the following sports and sports leagues: youth and adult basketball, youth soccer, youth t-ball, and youth and adult volleyball.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

· Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.

· Ability to see and hear individuals within program areas that include a wide variety of both indoor and outdoor locations, communicate verbally and in writing, to sit or stand for long periods of time, and to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention.

· Ability to multi-task and manage multiple programs/projects.
