YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is Hiring a Sports Coordinator, Part-Time Near Duncan, SC

Under the guidance and supervision of the Program Director, he/she will provide guidance and leadership in a group setting to all participants. Assists and monitors sports programming, including program set up, rosters, and any further duties assigned. Maintenance of equipment and sports facilities is a necessary requirement of this position. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.

2. Set up programming and assist in instruction and activities for children ages 3-15.

3. Maintain accurate program documentation.

4. Follow designed sports curriculum and assist in the management of sports rules for all ages.

5. Maintain required tracking, attendance, and paperwork.

6. Instruct youth about all aspects of the sport.

7. Responsible for the use and proper storage of all equipment.

8. Communicate with supervisor any challenges or issues regarding program participants and facilities.

9. Prepare the learning environment and the necessary equipment.

10. Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.

11. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

2. Minimum of one year experience in sports officiating or organization, especially with children

3. At least 18 years of age.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

2. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

3. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight and sports equipment.

4. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

5. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

6. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.

7. Assist with implementing rules and regulations of all youth sports programming.

8. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
