GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Child Care Worker in the Child Watch center provides direct services to program participants. This includes the delivery of supervision, program curriculum and interaction with parents. Ultimate goal is to provide quality experience to children, parents and community with a focus on the YMCA core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.

Shifts:

Morning, evening, and weekend availability needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Supervises children and all activities. Engaging with children at all times.
• Maintain open lines of communication with parents in regard to their child’s behavior, health and development.
• Completes and maintains program records, including attendance records, incident reports and discipline forms.
• Assists in maintaining program site and equipment.
• Attends and participates in all staff meetings and staff training.
• Wears Y uniform or name tag and adhere to dress code.
• Ensures child safety.
• Honor the confidentiality of information.
• Familiarize self with policies in the employee handbook and onsite procedural manuals.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• At least 18 years of age
• CPR, First AID, AED certifications
• Pediatric First Aid with Airway breathing
• Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire
• Flexible schedule, may include evening and weekends or special events staffing
• Two years’ experience working with children
• Have enthusiasm and creativity in children’s programming
• Have ability to observe and assess behavior and apply appropriate and effective behavior management techniques.
• Child Care program site area environment (non-office work environment)
• Local travel may be required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

• High school diploma/GED
• Pursuit of Education Degree or Certification in relevant field preferred.

Candidates must have final Criminal Clearance certificates prior to starting employment. This includes National Sex Offender Registry Verification, PA Criminal Certificate, PA FBI - Use Code: 1kg738 and PA Child Abuse.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.66 - $14.57 per hour
