JOB TITLE: Program Lead

REPORTS TO: Associate Executive Director

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The primary focus is to assist Program Directors in the implementation and supervision of the departments of membership, aquatics, healthy living, youth sports, youth, and family. Serving as a member services associate, child watch associate, fitness floor associate, before and after school counselor, lifeguard, summer day camp counselor, sports supervisor, and sports official. Additionally, serving members, program participants, and guests, answering phones, and communicating changes in program offerings to members, program participants, and staff. The job consists of working with employees of various departments, volunteers, and program participants.

The position is very flexible. Shifts will vary based on the needs of the branches every week. Monday thru Friday, 2:30/3:00p till 8:00/9:00p. Weekends 7:45a-4:00p on Saturdays and 1:00-5:00p on Sundays. 20-30 hours per week. Days and times will vary per week.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• When serving as member services associate, child watch staff, before/after school counselor, sports supervisor, and sports official refer to the specific job description for responsibilities.
• Serve as a monitor on duty for facility and programs after business hours.
• Maintain a clean environment in the facility and programs by picking up trash and handling spills.
• Respond to and accurately report all accidents and incidents that occur in facility and program areas.
• Monitor facility and handle and solve member and program inquiries, concerns, and complaints in support of the manager on duty.
• Assure that towel service is maintained throughout the evening and prepared for following day.
• Provide member services such as membership sales, tours, answer and direct phone calls, guest registration, provide program information and registration, input membership and program information into computer, accept payment/cash register/receipts, schedule appointments, make and scan membership cards, rent lockers, stock, and distribute towels.
• Serve as liaison between members and program supervisors.
• Handle and solve member and program inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
• Accept and demonstrate the positive character values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
• Attend Scheduled Staff Meetings, Community Events and work-related events
• Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.

Requirements

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• Must be willing to get certified in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Have strong verbal interpersonal and communication skills, experience in a service-oriented environment, computer skills, and accuracy.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
• Knowing the Y rules of the YMCA completely with the ability to enforce them with authority.
• An understanding of the YMCA mission and how that mission is carried out using the Y’s Core Values.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and relate to all age levels.
