YMCA of Greater Long Beach is Hiring an ECE Eligibility Clerk - 70th St. Preschool Near Long Beach, CA

Position Summary:
Provides direction for the program participants, and implements program curriculum in the classroom. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions:
1. Insure that applicants applying for financial assistance receive appropriate financial forms necessary to determine eligibility and follows up with the applicant. Assists in evaluating an applicant’s financial eligibility for assistance.
2. Communicate with the participants about their responsibility in the program as it relates to State mandated policies and procedures.
3. Record and evaluate personal and financial data from each applicant to determine initial and/or continued eligibility. Prepares special and regular reports as required to supervisor.
4. Maintain accurate records of all participants, maintains all family documentation required by the State. Makes notes and changes to sessions and/or family dynamics.
5. Maintain a high level of confidentiality as it regards to family data and information. To be discussed only with supervisors.
6. Maintain communication with families regarding excessive absences, falsifying information, missing documentation needed for establishing continued enrollment in the program.
7. Use and be familiar with computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software in performing work assignment.
8. Participate in community fairs and other related events for the purpose of recruiting new families for the preschool.
9. Partner with ECE leadership to implement marketing strategies and forecast enrollment numbers.
10. Model and promote positive behavior, attitude and language with YMCA staff.
11. Answer phones, filing, and faxing as needed.
12. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.
13. Maintain open lines of communication with participant, coaches, referee, staff and supervisor.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
2. High school diploma or equivalent required.
3. Criminal Clearance: including fingerprints.
4. Health Exam Screening, with negative tb test and negative drug test screening.
5. Complete all required online training(s).
6. 3 years of clerical experience, one year of which must have included the use of automated systems and involved the processing, examination or evaluation of completed forms.
7. Must be able to analyze facts related to the determination of financial eligibility for assistance; ability to work with applicable regulations governing the program; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
8. Ability to record information legibly and accurately.
9. Experience with MS Office products.
10. Previous experience with diverse populations.

Working Conditions:

Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
