Job Title: Vice President of Support Services/CFO
Reports To: CEO
Salary: $80,000 to $95,000/annually
Position Summary:
The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is seeking an experienced, analytical, and energetic professional to
join its management team as our new Vice President of Support Services/CFO. The VP of Support
Services provides strategic leadership, oversight, and guidance for all aspects of the organization’s
finances and the human resources department.
Essential Functions:
  • Can develop financial plans that enable the YMCA to fulfill its mission and achieve its strategic
goals, while controlling expenses
  • Is detail-oriented, organized, and analytical
  • Is reliable, a problem solver, and has a strong work ethic
  • Is collaborative and has strong decision-making skills
  • Can work closely with the CEO, Board, and Board Committees, and builds strong relationships
with operations staff
  • Has excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Has the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Meets deadlines
Principle Activities:
  • Timely delivery of monthly financial reports with the highest level of accuracy to the CEO,
Board and Finance Committee
  • Ensure all accounting procedures are in accordance with GAAP
  • Supervise the development, administration, and reporting of the annual budget including
facility improvement budget
  • Manage the YMCA’s cash flow, including collections and receivables, to ensure needed liquidity
and adequate return, guided by the level of risk acceptable to the Association
  • Ensure financial records are properly maintained and internal controls are in place,
communicated, and consistently implemented across the Association
  • Ensure reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare regular financial forecasts to project fiscal year operating results
  • Represent the Association in annual audits and oversee the preparation of IRS Form 990
  • Assist Directors to prepare department budgets
  • Provide financial analyses and reports
  • Advise CEO and Human Resource Department in staff compensation decision-making
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance to Human Resource Department
  • Advise VP of Youth Services and Grants on accounting procedures for grants, including but
not limited to the need for a Single Audit
  • Oversee the operation of the accounting/finance information systems
  • Advise VP of Facilities and IT specialist on third party providers of building and information
technology services
  • Attend and report at Board of Directors and Committee meetings
  • Prepare and submit reports to YMCA of the USA and governmental agencies
  • Cultivate ongoing working relationships with representatives of the YMCA’s banks, auditors,
and other finance-related business relationships
Staff Supervision:
  • Oversee growth and development of staff under supervision including:
o Human Resources Director
o Accounting Specialist
o Payroll and Reporting Specialist
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate performance of staff under supervision
  • Serve as a collaborative member of the Leadership Team

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or equivalent; CPA or CMA preferred
  • Three or more years of substantive experience in accounting and fiscal management
  • Knowledge and understanding of general business matters including budget development,
financial reporting, cash management, banking, and debt financing instruments
  • Ability to effectively present data to management and Board of Directors, verbally and in
writing
  • Proficiency in Daxko Accounting and Operations preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit financial budgeting and management including tracking,
analyses, reporting and forecasting
  • Experience supervising full-time staff
Salary and Benefits:
  • $80,000 - $95,000 (commensurate with experience)
