Responsible for the organization and execution of all Aquatic Programming at Wilkes YMCA including Swim Lessons, Lifeguards and Water Fitness. This position supervises all aquatics staff and programs at the branch. The successful candidate will implement the full spectrum of aquatic programming for members of all ages and abilities, growing the passion and capabilities of our community in the water so that they can take their knowledge to the next level and become life-long swimmers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values and character development model into all program activities.
MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises part time and non-exempt employees and volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing and approving timesheets; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in related field preferred. Two to four years related experience and some college education required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, TRAININGS must be completed within first year of employment.
All staff are required to complete: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; Bloodborne Pathogens; Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting Awareness
Lifeguard/Pool Operation: CPO, CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, YMCA Lifeguard, ASHI/YMCA Lifeguard Instructor
Swim Lesson: YSL V6 Instructor
