YMCA Columbia Willamette is Hiring a Youth Development Program Director Near Sherwood, OR

Description

The Leader, Youth Development will oversee all areas of the South Region’s Youth Development programming. This includes current offerings of day camps, childcare, enrichment, and sport/activity offerings. This position will also be integral to the growth and development of new youth development programming. The South Region encompasses the communities of Canby, Lake Oswego, McMinnville, Newberg, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, West Linn, and Wilsonville. Oversight of these program areas is comprised of: -Recruiting, training and leading staff team to provide high quality youth programming.

-Innovating and implementing new programs that serve youth in the community. -Development, implementation and management of successful annual financial plans.

-Engaging community stakeholders to identify prospective investors who have the capacity to contribute significant gifts to advance the Y’s strategic plan.

Essential Functions:

· Innovate, launch and maintain a variety of new programs. At least 10 programs in 18 mo.

· Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Assoc.1 and Assoc. 2 Level Staff (Youth Development Coordinator(s) and/or Program Lead(s)).

· Identify prospective communities and partners for offering YMCA Youth Development Programs.

· Foster relationships to expand YMCA of Columbia-Willamette South Region’s Geographic Footprint. At least 3 new program sites in 24 mo.

· Engaging community stakeholders to identify prospective investors who have capacity to contribute and participate in the annual community campaign to advance the Y's strategic plan.

· Frequent program observations, ensuring high quality program using YMCA best practices.

· Ensure success of annual fiscal plans for South Region Youth Development Programs.

· Serve on/lead Association committees, cabinets, and task forces.

· Ability to work harmoniously with South Region Leadership Staff.

· Clear and prompt communication with supervisor, staff, and participants.

Additional Functions:

· Understand the mission and play a vital role in the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette’s Strategic Plan.

· Participate in all Regional Staff Meetings and functions.

· Ability to work well in high stress situations, responding properly to critical incidents, and act swiftly in emergency situations.

· Must be able to delegate appropriately, establish productive relations with staff team, volunteers, donors, school districts, new communities, etc.

· Ability to conduct and manage large programs within the West Region’s budget and goals.

· Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

· Must pass YMCA background check.

· CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to acquire certifications within 30 days of employment.

· College Degree in related field (Recreation Management, Business, etc.) preferred.

· Must have reliable transportation across the South Region.

· 2 years of experience working with youth in varying capacities.

· 2 years of supervisory experience in varying capacities.

· Complete YMCA Learning and Leadership Training pathway in timely manner (upon hire)
