POSITION SUMMARY  

This position supports the work of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, a leading philanthropic organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our communities. The Youth Development Lead stewards the Y’s cause and advocates for the Y’s mission and strategic plan, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization. The Youth Development Lead supports the operations of the Youth Development programs at the Sherwood Regional Family YMCA and participates in financial, volunteer and staff development.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Financial Development 

Assists in the management of the department’s finances to ensure operating strength and integrity is sustained. Direct areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to; 

1. Helps ensure appropriate enrollment of programs and activities 
2. Assists the Leader to ensure that budget targets are achieved 
3. Actively work to increase facility membership through relationships, program quality, and sales. 
4. Staff Development 
5. Supports Youth Development team members in the absence of the Leader. 
6. Assists in planning and conducting staff meetings and training. 
7. Helps create and manage staff schedules. 
8. Assists in creating and maintaining a positive staff culture and teamwork. 
9. Program Development 
10. Supports youth sports, Y Time, After-School Enrichment, Camps and other youth programs. 
11. Works with Leader to create and/or implement program-specific curriculum across multiple youth programs.
12. Ensures the program spaces are clean, safe, and meet association standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

• Incorporate and model the YMCA values into work. 
• Establish long-term and harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members and families. 
• Ability to adequately observe and supervisor program activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate management techniques. 
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs. 
• Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently 
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certifications. 
• Be available to work a variety of hours, including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends. 

OVERALL IMPACT 

The Youth Development Lead is a key staff member in promoting and effectively achieving the Y’s overall mission and organizational goals. Successful completion of the afore-mentioned duties and responsibilities will have a significant impact on the overall growth of the association and advancement of the Y’s Strategic Plan.
