Description

 The HL Program Lead, Aquatics position supports the work of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, a leading, philanthropic organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our communities. The Aquatics Lead stewards the Y’s cause and advocates for the Y’s mission and strategic plan, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization. The Aquatics Lead supports the operations of the aquatics department at the Sherwood Family YMCA and participates in financial development, volunteer and staff development.

Requirements

• Plan programs and schedule to meet branch and association goals and objectives. Ensure schedules meet the needs of members, guests, and program participants. 
• Staff management: supervise, train and evaluate staff and volunteers in the aquatics department 
• Ensure safety is planned into all policies, procedures, programs, events, training, and evaluations. Lead by example, conduct regular training, and enforce compliance. 
• Must possess professional written and verbal communication skills, even under potentially confrontational situations, to achieve a successful outcome. 
• Ensure all team member shifts are covered, doing the work personally as needed. 
• Development of self and others: seek timely and relevant training for self, staff, and volunteers, keep informed of developments, trends, and new techniques affecting YMCA programming. 
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as, sit at a computer and stand for extended periods of time. 
• Assume responsibility while on duty in the event of an emergency and follow all procedures outlined in the Aquatic Safety Plan and Facility Emergency Action Plan. 
• Facility and Pool opening responsibilities.
• Varied hours: Expected hours M-F 4:45AM-9:00AM, Saturdays possible.
