The YMCA is looking for fun, hard working, individuals looking to make an impact in our community. This position will provide after school enrichment classes in coordination with the PTA at Laurelhurst K-8 in the Portland Public School District. This is a part time position with the hours of 2:30-6:00pm. Work days are flexible based on staff availability.

Job Responsibilities:

The Enrichment Teacher will work after school to teach classes to a group of 15 of less children. Class types can vary based on staff experience and interest. Currently we offer classes such as Cooking and LEGO Engineering. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, implementing a fun and engaging curriculum, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and the school community.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Pass a YMCA Background Check
• 20 credit hours in Education or related field or at least 1 year of experience in a licensed child care/school facility.
• Meet all teacher standards as dictated by the state Child Care Division.
• Current enrollment in the Oregon State Childcare Registry or ability to enroll prior to employment.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Current Food Handlers certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• At least 18 years of age
