YMCA - CHARLOTTE is Hiring an Associate Executive Director: Morrison YMCA Near Charlotte, NC

Under the direction of the District Executive Director- Morrison, Steele Creek, and Sara’s and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for the administration, operation, supervision, budgeting and leadership development of all designated program areas. These areas include: Afterschool program, Teens, Childcare (Licensed, Unlicensed, Drop In), Preschool, Camps, Gymnastics, Youth Culinary, Sports and Aquatics. The incumbent is responsible for all organizational revenue, expense, quality, and retention goals as well as overseeing professional, well-trained directors that offer members consistent, exceptional customer service. Assists with the growth and development of overall community initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Sets strategy to the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental goals for all program areas that will reflect center and association goals.
  • Sets strategy for the work of the Associate Marketing and communications department that ensures effective promotion of all key programs areas that are under supervision/management.
  • Leads all current program strategies and associated goals specifically related to youth and teen programming, preschool and 0-5 programs, aquatics, sports and specialized programs.
  • Develops, designs and implements incentive programs for program participants in program areas which include, but are not limited to, non member to member conversion.
  • Provides strategic leadership to specific center event/special programs such as the Annual Triathlon, Sports annual fundraising ask, and volunteer recognition event.
  • Works with Association Marketing/PR director to maximize opportunities at local schools and community events that promote youth and teen programming.
  • Provides leadership on the Morrison program team as it relates to operational responsibilities and functions such as special events, manager on duty, board meetings, and financial development efforts.
  • Provides senior leadership representation on behalf of the center at all association program meetings representing feedback on behalf of staff teams.
  • Provides leadership to program registrar to ensure all program account balances are in good financial standing and money is collected.
  • Provides strategy to board of volunteer committees such as the youth/teen volunteer committee that support the work of the center.
  • Development of Y Regional Employee Engagement Plan for all staff in coordination with other key associate executive directors.
  • Provides leadership where appropriate at Association Program Implementation team or related PMT groups/committees.
  • Provides strategic direction and leadership to all staff in assigned areas.
  • Represents the YMCA and maintains appropriate relationships with area organizations and community leaders.
  • Maintains adequate records to evaluate control and measure the effectiveness of assigned areas of responsibilities.
  • Ultimately responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental budgets to achieve center fiscal goals.
  • Maintains or exceeds the Quality Scores and Quality Standards set by the Charlotte YMCA Association Quality Standards for the center and community.
  • Provides strategic direction as a senior operational leader in the Annual Community Outreach Campaign in the areas of Staff Giving and Community Gifts Division and ensures all areas under leadership meet their goals and participation specific to dance, youth programs, sports and aquatics.
  • Ultimately responsible for maintaining the Licensed Preschool program and meeting all required guidelines maintained by the state.
  • Monitors and measures quality improvements made in areas of responsibility.
  • Ensures sound financial management is practiced and efficient record keeping systems are maintained in all program areas.
  • Ultimately responsible for the sound administration of the affairs of those functions supervised, evidenced by purposeful and coordinated efforts, good public relations within the center, the association and the community.
  • Maintains high morale, enthusiasm, effectiveness and development of team members and volunteers within assigned areas.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 7 years working in program specific related areas, and 6 years proven experience in supervising full- time and part-time staff
  • 4 Year college degree
  • Must combine experience based programmatic knowledge and ability to manage multiple program areas
  • Ability to make strategic recommendations and independent operational decisions in direct report areas that are staff and member related
  • Strong communication skills, professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to create short and strategic longterm goals for program and staff
  • Present a professional image and create harmonious relationships with staff, members, program participants, volunteers and community leaders
  • Proven experience in budget development, fiscal management, and expense control
  • Certification in Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR/AED, Oxygen and First Aid training required within 60 days of employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in excess of a 40-hour week with irregular work hours
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
  • Ability to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
  • Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time
