Position Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing international community of entrepreneurs, investors, local business leaders and students.
Established in 2019, the YU Innovation Lab operates as a borderless NYC-based ecosystem, using academy-as-platform to drive economic development and job creation through the synergy of three communities: the Israeli startup sector, the business community of Upper Manhattan, and the University's human capital embodied by our students, faculty, and alumni.
The Yeshiva University (YU) Innovation Lab is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish), dynamic, experienced and enthusiastic Community Liaison to develop programs that support local businesses in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City.
The Community Liaison will work collaboratively with local business owners, community leaders and other stakeholders to create, implement and manage programs that foster growth and prosperity in the area. This position will report to the Director of the YU Innovation Lab and work in close collaboration with the Director of Programming and other members of the YU Innovation Lab team. In this role, you will do real work and make a lasting impact.
This is one year contract fully funded by an EDA grant until April, 22, 2024, with a possibility of renewal depending on satisfactory performance and budget availability.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute programs and initiatives that support local businesses in Washington Heights, including marketing, funding, and training opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with local business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders to gain insights into the unique challenges and opportunities faced by the community.
  • Collaborate with the YU Innovation Lab team to identify and leverage resources that can support the development of new programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between the YU Innovation Lab and community organizations to promote collaboration and identify new opportunities for partnership.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the YU Innovation Lab's programs and initiatives to the local community.
  • Monitor program performance and evaluate program impact to identify areas for improvement.
Experience & Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community/external relations; intergovernmental relations; or program development and implementation, preferably in a community development or business support context.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Spanish.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Washington Heights community and its businesses is a plus.
  • Passion for community development and business growth.
Salary Range:
$75,000-$85,000
