Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael (YOY) is a yeshiva high school for boys in the Boston area. Founded to give students a premier education in both Jewish studies and general knowledge, Ohr Yisrael has established itself as a growth-oriented school, focused on bringing out each student’s unique strengths. After Ohr Yisrael our students go on to either traditional university, further religious studies, or engage in vocational training. In our small, comfortable, and supportive environment we strive to support each individual student in what they want to do. Our secular curriculum includes courses focused on skills development through advanced and AP level courses, so we can meet the needs of all our students.

Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael is hiring a part-time math teacher for fall of 2024. This position is ideal for someone with a current teaching position looking for additional work, or a graduate student interested in teaching at the high school level.

Responsibilities include:

Create and implement lesson plans You will be responsible for teaching two sections of high school math, which could be either Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II. For the right candidate there is room to teach more math, science, or elective courses, or clubs, based on your interests.

Monitor and communicate student progress Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Maintain appropriate records. Create two-way communication channels with families so they are updated on their child’s progress.

Other responsibilities As assigned by the Head of School.

Who you are:

• You are warm, nurturing, and passionate about working with teenage boys.
• You are creative, and enjoy developing coursework that will challenge and enrich teenager’s minds.
• You are passionate about math, and have multiple ways to engage students in the curriculum.
• The ideal candidate will have experience teaching HS math.
• NOTE: We are also hiring for a part time HS chemistry teacher (1 section), and are especially interested in meeting candidates who can teach both math and science.

Location: Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael is in Chestnut Hill (Newton), Massachusetts

Hours: The hours for this position have some flexibility between Monday-Thursday 1:30-5:30 p.m. There is room to teach between 1-4 courses during these hours.

Salary: $7500-$10,000 per class, based on experience.
