Responsible to coordinate and provide nursing services to inmates of the Competency Restoration Unit in accordance with established policies and procedures of the Unit, the policies, and procedures of the Health Services Unit, and consistent with recognized nursing standards.
The jail-based competency restoration program aims to restore individuals’ to competency to stand trial by increasing the participant’s rational and factual understanding of the legal process, enhancing their ability to effectively consult with legal counsel, improving awareness and consideration of their respective pending charges and potential legal implications, and providing effective and prompt psychiatric rehabilitation, and medication evaluation and monitoring in a therapeutic and safe milieu.
