Position Summary

At Yes Energy, the Power Infrastructure team is responsible for the integrity of all existing data collections related to physical assets within the US power industry, including transmission and generation. The Research Analyst position will be responsible for researching & analyzing new projects under development across North America impacting the electrical power grid–including new power plants, new transmission projects, and large industrial & manufacturing projects. This market research and intelligence gathering will form the basis for key data collections supporting multiple Yes Energy product lines. The ideal candidate should have an analytic mindset that enjoys identifying patterns in information, ability to synthesize results from disparate sources, and an eagerness to perform extensive web-based, policy and news research to discover critical information and identify additional sources of information for ongoing research. Critical thinking and decision-making skills are essential to this position, to efficiently and effectively determine the accuracy and reliability of data sources that are ultimately adopted by Yes Energy. In addition to conducting market research for key infrastructure projects and related company profiles, you will also be collaborating with other members of the team, responding to client questions, and representing Yes Energy at key industry events.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Primary Research & Intelligence Gathering:
    • Research and track power infrastructure and facilities projects from concept through engineering, permitting, construction and completion.
    • Mine existing and discover new data sources to develop a detailed database on US transmission, generation, and load infrastructure.
    • Synthesize and analyze information from disparate sources and make best qualified judgment as to data validity.
    • Comfort in calling or emailing companies with project specific questions is essential.
  • Electric Transmission & Generation Expertise:
    • Demonstrated industry proficiency in the electric power grid, associated technical infrastructure components, and the permitting & financial requirements to site new equipment & projects. Knowledge should encompass federal, state and local policy and procedures.
    • Ability to fully capture and understand company financial filings and investor presentations, including using the Security and Exchange Commission’s database of company financial filings, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s database of project applications as well as mining various state and local permitting databases.
    • Continuous learning to keep current with federal and state policies that impact the industry.
  • Geolocation Research:
    • Perform GIS and Web map work to research and identify power-related infrastructure (power plants, transmission grid elements).
  • Data Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure premium data quality, with a capability to create new processes to help maintain best-in-class data quality standards.
  • Customer Support:
    • Support our clients in maximizing the utility of our products and data by conducting client demonstrations, addressing inquiries, and contributing to the creation of tailored solutions.
    • Manage both internal and external help documentation related to product features, accessible data, and frequently asked questions.
  • Database Entry:
    • Be comfortable with database entry in a cloud-based environment to maintain and update profiles for all major North American power-related projects.
    • Determine and maintain data relationships between market objects in a relational database.

Key Skills &
Competencies:
  • 1-3 years of experience in researching & tracking power infrastructure and facilities projects.
  • Knowledge of federal and state policies related to permitting & siting of energy infrastructure; including financial filings and investor data.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguous data sources

Compensation and Benefits
We offer strongly competitive salaries and real bonuses that are achievable and that you can impact. Our benefits package is also very competitive, and it includes medical insurance, 401K Plan with matching, flexible vacation and flexible work schedules. Base Compensation Range: $50,000 - 60,000 plus bonus
In accordance with Colorado law, the range provided is Yes Energy’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
