Receiving and Shipping Clerk

Full Job Description

The Receiving and Shipping Clerk will ensure that Yell-O-Glow Corporation customers receive their orders within specified timeframes and these items will be documented and transacted according to company policies and procedures. This includes assuring inventory is transacted and maintained accurately and on a FIFO basis. The supervisor will support training, make staffing and hiring recommendations and will provide full and stable coverage to support all production and shipping/ receiving activities. This is a hands-on position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing and tracking all outgoing shipments from our distribution center.
• Create and maintain a Safe and Professional work area and team. Ensures compliance of all safety procedures, safe operation of all equipment, proper use of personal protection equipment and good housekeeping practices. Lead by example.
• Use software to prepare, track, check, prioritize and route orders.
• Manage all important documents such as advanced sales orders, pick slips, bills of lading etc. Point of contact for drivers
• Help coordinate and process returns
• Coordinate with other departments, such as Purchasing & Accounting, to resolve issues in receipts and clear discrepancies in invoices
• Inspect labels, barcodes, packaging materials and other features of completed orders.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize processes, resolve issues regarding shipped orders.
• Ensure compliance to company policies. Participate in updating and improving operating procedures for shipping
• Cross train staff on all functions throughout the department to ensure proper staffing coverage throughout the year. Report to management on activities and issues
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 2 years of Shipping or Receiving preferred
• Skilled in ERP system, Microsoft office (especially Excel)
• Organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, team player
• Effective Leadership skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
