Yardzen is Hiring a Remote Graphic Designer (remote)

At Yardzen, we believe people are at their best when they’re outside.

We have a simple promise: help people envision the outdoor spaces of their dreams, all online, and then match them with the right local contractors to bring their design to life. Since our launch in 2018, we’ve helped thousands of homeowners achieve their dream yards, make environmentally responsible decisions, boost their property values and get more out of their outdoor spaces.

We are disrupting the $200 billion outdoor renovation industry. By leveraging technology and creating an innovative online process, we offer a more straightforward, transparent, and delightful design and build experience for the modern homeowner. We’ve been recognized as a Forbes Best Startup Employer, Fast Company Most Innovative Company, named to Inc. Magazine’s Best Places to Work, and written about by Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Sunset Magazine, House Beautiful, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. And we’re just getting started.

We’re seeking a dynamic, wildly creative, versatile Graphic Designer to join our world-class marketing team. The ideal candidate turns out concepts with lightning speed, produces crisp copy when needed, and is a valued cross-functional partner with other teams.

Note that we’re looking for someone with significant experience in graphic design as well as production design. It’s an end-to-end role that offers the right candidate ample opportunity to create and produce creative that connects with key audiences and drives business results.

As our Graphic Designer, you’ll:

  • Create high-quality and engaging content, leveraging Yardzen brand guidelines and style guides.
  • Work on diverse projects ranging from social media content and ads, emails, direct response campaigns, blog posts, pitch decks, marketing collateral, performance-focused landing pages, print pieces, and other creative placements you inspire. If it’s an extension of the Yardzen brand, you’ll touch it.
  • Ensure everything you deliver and contribute to drives our desired business outcomes.
  • Manage and prioritize the workload of producing multiple projects from concept to completion – if you’ve been part of a startup before, you know the drill.
  • Ability to both design creative assets as well as bring them to life. For example, stand up a landing page in WordPress or help post on Instagram.
  • Take and run with creative briefs, highlighting Yardzen’s unique brand voice and aesthetic across various deliverables.
  • Most importantly, flex into creative marketing tasks beyond a traditional production designer role. We’re looking for a designer who considers themselves a marketing generalist and energized by a broad scope.
Non-negotiables:
  • At least 5 years of experience in graphic and production design with an excellent understanding of layout, typography, color, photography, and other fundamental design principles (in-house experience preferred).
  • Strong writing skills are a must. We’re an organization that values exceptional copy.
  • Strong video creation and editing skills are a close second to writing skills.
  • Robust understanding of digital-first, direct-response best practices.
  • Expert knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with WordPress.
  • An impressive portfolio that showcases your conceptual thinking, execution skills, detailed systems, and brand standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to quickly scope and deliver creative assets that drive results (clicks, leads, purchase conversions, etc.)
