PRODUCT MANAGER JOB FUNCTION: Responsible for managing sales, product development, and promotion of Yamato scales. Focus will be on Semi-Automatic TSDW scales and Checkweighers but also include all products. This includes assessment, creation and implementation of strategies and tactics needed to achieve goals as outlined by company management.
PRODUCT MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Works with Headquarters engineering on improvements, features needed to be more competitive, new models required, and US sourced value-added components.
2. Assists agents, OEMs, and direct salespeople in their sales efforts (providing technical expertise) and training them.
3. Participates in the RFQ-Proposal-Order process.
4. Creates and maintains competitive database to assist Yamato sales staff and agents.
5. Creates and implements strategies and tactics needed to achieve goals as outlined by Yamato management.
6. Cooperates and coordinates with all departments within Yamato Corporation related to activities in the industry.
7. Assesses current market situation and provides data to marketing and sales departments for them to formulate strategies to increase sales.
8. Provides monthly reports and forecasts, and other information and reports as requested.
9. Participates in sales meetings at Yamato in Grafton and accompanies salespeople occasionally to meetings with customers, agents, and OEMs, as the technical advisor.
10. Attends USA and international trade shows as directed. Attend sales and service calls as needed. Travel expected to be 20-30%.
11. Other duties as required.

Requirements
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required (or other related disciplines).
2. Five to eight years packaging or inspection system related experience and/or training, or equivalent of combination of education and experience preferred. Familiarity with weighing technology is a plus.
3. 2D CAD experience preferred.
4. Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and floorplans. The ability to manipulate them is a plus.
5. Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills, self-motivated.
7. Leadership traits with ability to mentor and train others.
8. Working knowledge of Windows based software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
9. Previous experience with CRM and/or ERP systems preferred.
10. Must have valid driver’s license and must be insurable.
11. Requires a passport to travel outside of the United States.
12. Ability and willingness to travel to Japan occasionally for training.
