YAI - Seeing Beyond Disability is Hiring a Medical Receptionist Near Bayside, NY

We are looking to hire a Medical Receptionist with excellent organizational and administrative skills. Medical Receptionists are expected to be compassionate and discrete with superb time management and record-keeping skills.

To ensure success, medical receptionists should be confident and professional administrators with fantastic communication and interpersonal skills that will contribute to the efficient day-to-day administration of the healthcare facility. Top candidates will work comfortably under pressure while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and can effectively react to patient emergencies.

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients with disabilities and their families and provide them with superb customer service
  • Collect co-pays and payments for service from patients
  • Collect and enter registration information in EMR
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility prior to appointments
  • Assist with patient flow
  • Schedule patients efficiently, follow up with the patients for missed appointments
  • Schedule follow up appointments
  • Confirm appointments
  • Track appointments throughout the day to ensure the arrival rate
  • Assist with internal referrals services
  • Participate in Quality improvement activities
  • Ensure the front desk is neat, presentable, and equipped with all the necessary supplies such as pens, forms, and paper.
  • Answer telephone calls on a multi-line system. 
  • Receive letters, packages, etc and distribute them
  • Check and respond to emails in a timely manner
  • Manage a busy waiting room and ensure social distancing
  • Coordinate transportation for patients.
  • Ensure schedules are filled to meet the clinic’s productivity
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Multitasking abilities
  • Efficient time management skills
  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions (provided FREE of charge by our Premier Healthcare clinic)

Preferred Qualification Requirements (_ requirements beyond MQRs above)_

  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred 
  • Experience in an outpatient medical facility a plus
  • Previous receptionist experience
  • College preferred
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
