Watterson is looking for a Project Manager who will be a conceptual thinker with superb organizational and time management skills. Job Title: Handyman
Reports to: Project Manager
Position level: Individual contributor, no direct reports
Location: Multiple Locations (Orlando and Houston to start) WFH 80% min of local travel
Position Summary
The Handyman Technician is tasked with the restoration and repair of damaged properties across various locations. They will evaluate the extent of damage, perform cleaning and sanitization, remove and replace damaged materials, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Additionally, they will collaborate with mitigation staff and aid as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing damaged properties to determine salvageable items and materials, including ceiling tiles, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, locks, and other features.
  • Cleaning and organizing damaged properties for restoration, ensuring all areas, including ceilings, are addressed.
  • Removing and replacing damaged materials, such as ceiling tiles, wallboards, lumber, carpets, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and locks.
  • Addressing issues resulting from water damage, such as drying affected areas, repairing basic plumbing leaks, and ensuring electrical safety.
  • Conducting basic electrical repairs, such as replacing outlets, switches, and light fixtures.
  • Conducting basic plumbing repairs, including repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and replacing fixtures.
  • Sanitizing salvaged structural features, including ceilings, to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Safely operating vehicles and utilizing field automation systems for efficient transportation of materials and equipment.
  • Collaborating effectively within the team and sharing pertinent information regarding repair and restoration tasks.
  • Providing customer service by addressing complaints and explaining job specifications.
  • Adhering strictly to company procedures and safety protocols, especially when working with electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of trucks and warehouse facilities, including storage of ceiling tiles and related repair materials.
  • Assisting in quality control plans and conducting inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards for ceiling repairs and other restoration tasks.
  • Communicating task statuses and supporting internal project communication, particularly regarding ceiling repairs and related maintenance activities.
  • Interpreting construction drawings and specifications, especially as they relate to ceiling installations and repairs.

Experience/Education
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations and laws.
  • Technologically proficient, including proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
