POSITION OVERVIEW 

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our team!

The ideal candidate will have a background in conducting data analysis, engineering, and data mining to complete predictive and statistical analysis in support of open-source data collection. The candidate will be responsible for working with open-source intelligence (OSINT) analysts and application developers to refine search queries and data extraction. This position will support the intelligence production cycle to assist in data mining and predictive analysis in support of intelligence analysis. While this position is listed as full-time, we are open to discussing part-time opportunities for the right candidate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

• Conduct data analytics, data engineering, data mining, exploratory analysis, predictive analysis, and statistical analysis, and uses scientific techniques to correlate data into graphical, written, visual and verbal narrative products, enabling more informed analytic decisions.
• Develop and refine search queries to assist automated tools with data collection on the open web.
• Proactively retrieve information from various sources, analyzes it for better understanding about the data set, and assist with developing AI tools that automate certain processes.
• Create various ML-based tools or processes, such as recommendation engines or automated lead scoring systems.
• Perform statistical analysis, applies data mining techniques, and builds high quality prediction systems.

Junior

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience desired; Degree equivalencies accepted:
  • HS or GED and 7 years of experience;
  • Associate’s degree and 5 years of experience;
  • Master’s degree and 1 year of experience.

Mid-Level

• Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience desired; Degree equivalencies accepted:
  • HS or GED and 12 years of experience;
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience;
  • Master’s degree and 6 years of experience.

Senior

• Master’s degree and 12 years of experience desired; Degree equivalencies accepted:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 17 years of experience;
  • Associate’s degree and 20 years of experience;
  • HS or GED and 23 years of experience.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

• Prior experience with data analysis, engineering or data mining
• Detail Oriented
• Ability to communicate effectively and concisely using a variety of styles and technique appropriate to the audience
• Extensive analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organization skills
• Ability to get consensus and collaboration across multiple unites
• Ability to participate productively as a contributing member in a team environment

• Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Additional Qualifications:

• Skilled in data visualization and use of graphical applications, including Microsoft Office (Power BI) and Tableau; major data science languages, such as R and Python; managing and merging of disparate data sources, preferably through R, Python, or SQL; statistical analysis; and data mining algorithms.
• Prior experience with machine learning and predictive analytics in support of intelligence analysis.
