We’re hiring an Engineering Training Specialist to Live. Work. Explore. at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon!

Job Summary:
The Engineering Training Specialist will develop and conduct all of the general engineering and required certification classes for all engineering employees.

The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $35,000 per year
Schedule: May include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and facilitate engineering training content to include but not limited to the topics of occupational health and safety that comply with OSHA and ADOSH requirements.
  • Conduct training needs assessments for all engineering employees, and document the required health, safety, and environmental training by employee and position.
  • Analyze and identify department needs to determine training deficits and develop trainings based on those results. Assess training effectiveness.
  • Schedule required training classes and track employee participation through Xanterra’s Learning Management System. Assist with trouble shooting issues concerning Absorb LMS or any other Xanterra technical systems when applicable.
  • Facilitate/organize skills training for the engineering department. Topics must be appropriate to staff and include:
  • Historic preservation and skills
  • Current construction codes
  • Hazardous materials handling
  • New techniques and technologies
  • Conduct Engineering Department Orientation for all new engineering department employees, including uniform, attendance, work and safety policies and procedures.
  • Organize Historic Preservation Crew members with twice yearly regional historic preservation training (instructor led and practical training).
  • Ensure that engineering employees in selected trades have been offered the company-sponsored immunizations.
  • Facilitate the Respiratory Protection Program for engineering employees.
  • Attend the weekly safety meeting and present an engineering training topic that creates an awareness of safety, to eliminate unsafe practices and conditions, and to minimize losses due to personal injuries and property damage.
  • Maintain current certifications (as required for training curriculum), participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain useful information for updating current training programs.
  • Facilitate property hospitality Learning & Development training topics as required.
  • Share responsibility in the facilitation of all aspects of general New Employee Orientation.
  • Project a positive and welcoming presentation to staff, representing the training materials and company in the most encouraging manner.
  • Be an effective communicator in all professional relationships while building a positive working rapport with department trainers, departmental managers, and supervisors.
  • Work and practice the Xanterra Core Values and Mission set forth by Xanterra South Rim.
  • Possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Maintain OSHA 30 hour certification.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience providing technical safety training and/or working in a safety environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting effective training to employees of all levels.
  • Experience in creating training calendars, visual aids, teaching aids and class outlines, utilizing print, audio visual media, and electronic/virtual learning methods.
  • Flexible across training mediums (in-person, blended, remote), able to tailor to your audience and consider factors such as culture, technology, and learning styles.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint software required. Learning Management System experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a productive manner to complete projects.
