Directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Maintains inspection-readiness for the laboratory. Provides administrative direction for, and development and evaluation of laboratory personnel.

Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer

Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree is Required Medical Technology or related science or have equivalent education and experience as defined by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988.

Knowledge or laboratory procedures and laboratory functions in the areas of chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, clinical microscopy, transfusion medicine, anatomic pathology, cytolo9gy, and laboratory operations and safety.

Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications: Medical Technologist or clinical laboratory scientist preferred.

Minimum Work ExperienceThree years of clinical laboratory experience. Five years of supervisory experience.
