Job Title: Director of Admissions

Department: Admissions

Reports to: Dean of Student Services

Position Summary:

The Director of Admissions oversees the comprehensive operations of the admissions Office with the primary responsibility to recruit, manage and strategize. He or she will report to the Dean of Student Services and work closely with the Dean in the operational plan for the admissions office. The Director of Admissions will lead and manage a team of counselors and student workers. The Director of Admissions should be innovative in attracting students who will thrive at WCC and graduate as strong representatives of the College.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Recruit:

  • Carry a portion of the application load including processing and evaluation applications
  • Represent Wyoming Catholic College at select off-site events such as college fairs, conferences, and school visits.
  • Organize and execute open house programs, and campus visits, scholarship weekends PEAK summer program and other recruitment events
  • Partner with the Financial Aid Office to help families understand paying for their college education and their financial packages.
  • Engage faculty, staff, senior leadership, alumni, and students in the recruitment process via appropriate and productive methods.

Manage:

  • Hire, train, lead and evaluate the Admissions team.
  • Manage and direct the appointed counselors in their workflow and special duties (i.e. PEAK director, Founders Liaison, Campus Visit Coordinator).
  • Work with the Dean of Student Services to understand the annual budget for the Admissions Office and plan accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with homeschool groups, Catholic high schools, parishes, and other organizations.
  • Champion the work of the Admissions team and inspire an environment of shared institutional responsibility for enrollment across campus.
  • Represent the Admissions Office in on-campus committees as assigned.
  • In collaboration with supervisor, monitor applications, acceptances, deposits, and withdrawals throughout the admission cycle and regularly supply statistical reports to the Dean of Student Services.

Strategize:

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Student Services and marketing staff to develop marketing and recruitment materials and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of effective admissions and recruitment processes including events planning, mail flow, ad placement, marketing efforts, applications, acceptance process, financial aid and scholarship.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of Admissions surveys with the Dean of Student Services.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Student Services to identify strategies to successfully meet the goals of the college and admissions office as dictated by the overall strategic plan as well as the admissions strategic enrollment plan.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Intimate familiarity with WCC’s unique program of study and formation
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably from a newman guide, great books or similar college
  • Previous experience of 5 years in admission, recruitment, and/or marketing
  • Previous experience as supervisor of a team and projects.
  • Excellent oral and written grammar and communication skills:
    • Oral – telephone, one-on-one, large and small groups of parents, students
    • Written – social media, emails, letters, promotional literature
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with database systems, such as Populi
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
  • Attentiveness to detail
  • Sensitivity to working with and maintaining confidential information
  • Self-direction and motivation
  • Ability to handle stress due to competing travel and office duties
  • A sense of humor and a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with word processors and spreadsheets
  • Adeptness at use of social media platforms including, Facebook, Instagram, etc.; capacity to keep up with changes and new platforms as they arise
  • Valid Driver’s License

Travel Requirements

  • Extended out-of-state travel (between 25%-33%)
  • Extended periods of travel and work on weekends and nights
