The main purpose and function of the Lab Assistant is to perform laboratory tests in accordance with strict analytical procedures and under direct supervision.

Specific responsibilities may include:

Sampling and testing of lab samples.
Accurate recording of data on spreadsheets and/or databases.
Support and participate in the organization’s Continual Improvement Program.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and training:

Basic math, reading, and writing skills.

Experience:

No experience required, will train.

Knowledge and Skills:

Basic Math skills.
Basic computer skills.
Valid Driver’s license required.
Ability to complete reports/records in a timely manner.
Ability to maintain a safe, clean, environmentally sound work area.
Communication skills, including peer to peer and employee to supervisor communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem solving skills: ability to identify source of problem; execute solution and document the issue; escalate to supervisor.
Approach all interactions and work situations in a positive and respectful manner.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

Rotating shift work.
Frequently work around dust and noisy lab equipment.
Must meet deadlines.
Sitting, bending, standing, walking 8-12 hours per day
Ability to lift 50lbs frequently and up to 100lbs occasionally.
Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.
