The Position
This position provides primary leadership for the Center for Threat Preparedness (CTP), an office-level organization of the West Virginia Department of Health and establishes the mission and overall programmatic direction and directing of staff, human resources, and administrative processes. Directs the public health and healthcare preparedness system initiative in WV by directing overall grant administration, program application, and emergency incident coordination and response.
The Director serves as a core member of the Cabinet Secretary's Leadership Team and collaborates with the Governor's Homeland Security Advisor, the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, the State Emergency Management Agency, law enforcement, emergency services, local health departments, health facilities and their respective statewide associations, as well as response agencies in other states, and the federal response organizations located with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This position is responsible for a variety of difficult and complex duties requiring specialized emergency response and managerial knowledge. Assigned responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence and involve making decisions concerning policy, work procedures, processes, and system operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Training: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a field relating to emergency management
OR
5 years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a field related to the area of assignment.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
