WSP Global is Hiring a Transit and Rail Project Manager Near Baltimore, MD

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transit and Rail Project Manager for our Baltimore, MD office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

As a Transit and Rail Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of rail transit projects. This role involves coordinating various stakeholders, managing schedules, ensuring compliance with regulations, and ultimately delivering successful outcomes for rail transit initiatives. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Your Impact

Project Planning and Strategy:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Formulate strategies to achieve project goals efficiently while adhering to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure successful project execution.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, contractors, and engineers.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communication channels to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Address stakeholder concerns and manage expectations to foster positive relationships and support for the project(s).

Schedule Oversight:

  • Develop project schedules and timelines, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as necessary to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate activities among various project teams and contractors to maintain schedule adherence.
  • Anticipate and address potential delays or obstacles proactively to minimize impact on project timelines.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Establish quality assurance processes and standards to ensure that work meets specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement corrective actions as needed to address non-compliance issues and improve project outcomes.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare regular progress reports, status updates, and presentations for project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, decisions, and milestones, ensuring adherence to record-keeping protocols.
  • Communicate key project metrics, including schedule variance, and risk assessments.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in managing project objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
  • Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to all audiences.
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
  • Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree 
  • Experience with track, station, layover facility, and general civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of FRA, FTA, AREMA, APTA and other rail regulatory standards and procedures, codes, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
