Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Prior Authorization Specialist to join our team. As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance authorizations for medical procedures and treatments. Your role will involve working closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to ensure timely and accurate authorization. Responsibilities: - Review medical records and treatment plans to determine the need for prior authorization - Communicate with healthcare providers to gather necessary information for authorization requests - Complete and submit prior authorization forms to insurance companies - Follow up on pending authorizations and provide updates to healthcare providers and patients - Maintain accurate documentation of all authorization activities - Stay up-to-date with insurance guidelines, policies, and procedures related to prior authorizations - Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate coding and billing practices - Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred - Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is required - Proficient in medical coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) and knowledge of insurance verification processes - Familiarity with managed care plans and insurance authorization requirements - Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team We offer competitive compensation based on experience.
