POSITION: Graphics Designer DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Executive Producer FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt

JOB CLASS: Individual Contributor LOCATION: Rye Brook, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating broadcast graphics for daily content offering a standardized concept throughout RNN show/properties. Assist with creation and implementation of new graphical packed as needed.

REELS MUST BE INCLUDED ON RESUMES TO BE CONSIDERED”

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce on-air graphics packages/elements for RNN shows/properties
  • Control room CG operator for Live or Live to Tape daily shows
  • Create graphics to support editorial content for live television production. 
  • Participate in the design and execution of elements ranging from on-air still graphics, show opens and animated packages. Exceptional sense of design, color and typography
  • Conceptualize, design, and animate graphics for new programs as needed
  • Effectively communicate concepts and ideas
  • Translate graphics requests to brand strategy and standards and convert into quality design
  • Stay current with creative and technical industry trends

Critical Competencies for Success:

  • At least 3 years with a television network or video advertising agency
  • Must have strong design frames and animation show reel
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects
  • ENPS, Xpression and Chyron Hego Channel Box Prime. Knowledge of 3D application a plus
  • Efficient use of Photoshop/graphic designing software in a MAC environment - Apple OSX platform, Final Cut Pro, Apple’s Motion
  • Versatile, creative and always eager to try new approaches and techniques
  • Must be flexible, deadline driven, a great collaborator, and must be able to confidently deliver graphics with complete accuracy
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be extremely organized and demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner
  • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to effectively take direction as well as offer his/her own creative thoughts, ideas and suggestions
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends and some holidays. 
  • Good speller a must
  • Remains current with political issues, events and relevant people

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: BA/BS Degree in graphic design, film, animation, or fine arts. Minimum three (3) years progressively complex experience in a cable network or agency production environment.
