As a Quality Engineer Intern at Worthington Steel, projects in which an intern will participate will vary, depending on education level and plant, but will model the duties below to the extent possible.

Summary of Responsibilities:

•  Work safely and ensure plant safety policies are followed.
•  Learn workflow in the testing lab.
•  Become familiarized with test equipment calibrations and testing procedures.
•  Create new operating efficiencies to maintain the production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.
•  Responsible for data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry.
•  Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
•  Responsible in Metallurgical and Quality investigations.
•  Assist in review of packaging specifications, control plans, PFMEA’s , process flows, and other related quality documentation.
•  Assist in planning and implementation of project work (engineering/maintenance).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrollment in Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering program in the field of Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or other related technical degree
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2024
• Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
