World Energy Paramount is Hiring a Plant Engineer Near Natchez, MS

World Energy Sustainable Products is a leader in North America’s low carbon advanced biofuels industry with production and distribution capabilities. The company operates in Hamilton, ON, Rome, GA, Natchez, MS, and Harrisburg, PA. This position is based in Natchez, MS at the World Energy Natchez facility. 

This Plant Engineering role is a mix of process and project engineering at World Energy. This job involves reviewing operational plans, ensuring machinery and processes meet compliance regulations, ensuring equipment and processes operate in a safe and reliable manner, and support capital project plans at the plant site. This job is well suited to great problem-solvers who have a broad variety of engineering skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

•Monitor and help lead maintenance of plant equipment and machinery to ensure that it’s running as it should be.

•Administer and resolve technical maintenance issues.

•Manage preventive maintenance programs in coordination with maintenance staff.

•Analyze equipment requirements and assist in requisition of all tools and equipment.

•Resolve maintenance issues and recommend improvements to same if required.

•Prepare an efficient schedule for production operations and assist in installation and maintenance of machines and tools.

•Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of plant programs.

•Depending on experience level, may train and assist plant personnel in carrying out safety and quality control procedures so that everyone on the team is compliant with the appropriate regulations. Will also deal with any administrative tasks that coincide with this training, such as completing reports or updating records.

•Design efficient training programs and prepare short- and long-term programs and ensure achievement of all objectives with required budget.

•Review project plans to ensure that timelines and drawings are accurate and that cost estimates tie in with the budget. Interpret developments along the way and provide advice and guidance for any necessary changes.

•Monitor all capital improvement projects and organize various performance appraisals and recommend training programs as per requirement.

•Provide an efficient interface with the engineering department to evaluate upcoming capital projects and analyze and obtain required feedback for equipment and layouts.

•Validate systems and prepare required documents for installation proves.

•Oversee contractors at the site during project installation.

•Perform regular audits on safety and mechanical integrity programs.

•Responsible for ensuring the facility is compliant with the relevant regulations and that regular check-ups are carried out to verify that machinery and processes are safe.

•Maintain an efficient and safe working environment for all employees.

•Ensure compliance to state and federal regulations and design appropriate plant maintenance programs to reduce downtime.

•Prepare reports for all activities and ensure compliance with state and federal laws.

•Develop operational plans for projects, such as renovation or construction, maintenance, and machine installation.

•Administer activities and assist in manufacturing of all new products and recommend improvements to existing products.

•Review and recommend improvements of SOP procedures and perform troubleshoot on plant activities and resolve issues and assist facilities manager to implement all changes.

•Evaluate production activities and prepare reports for all activities and inspect associate plant machines and equipment.

•Provide an efficient interface with all automation and validation processes and provide training to all engineers and mechanics.

•Reviews and approves key project documents such as Management of Change.

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ideal candidate would be a mechanical or chemical engineer, 5-10 years’ experience, production plant experience a must, proficient with AutoCAD, knowledge leading a maintenance department a plus. Responsibilities to include management of key PSM process, including Mechanical Integrity program, P&ID updates and control, stewardship of the Management of Change program with leadership team, and support of onsite projects with corporate engineering.

•Plant engineer should be a team player with strong mechanical abilities, excellent diagnostic skills, and should have a strong bias towards safety with familiarity with process and personnel safety systems.

•Engineering skills – plant engineer works with all machinery used in the manufacturing process to check that they’re working to peak efficiency and maximum safety, so mechanical/electrical skills are a must.

•Problem-solving skills – as issues arise, plant engineer needs to identify ways to resolve them as quickly as possible. Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are advantageous.

•Attention to detail – a key part of this job is to spot any problems with machinery and to identify processes that can be improved to benefit the organization and the safety of the team, so applicants for this job should be detail-oriented.

•Teamwork – plant engineer works closely with other members of the team, so it’s important that they always have interpersonal skills and the ability to remain professional.

Education and Training

•Requirement is a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or industrial engineering. Prefer candidates to have on-the-job experience in middle management in a manufacturing environment. There may be a necessity for specific licenses and certifications.

•Familiarity with ASME piping and vessel codes, NFPA electrical and liquid storage codes, Process Safety Management (PSM)

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to constantly walk as well as sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, often for utilizing a computer and telephone.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts as well as chemicals used in the process. 

This position may involve occasional, but infrequent, travel and therefore the employee will be required to travel by auto, plane, or other similar mode of transportation.
