We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Payroll Tax Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing and taxation, possessing both technical knowledge and practical skills to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all payroll tax obligations.
Responsibilities:
Payroll Tax Compliance: Responsible for accurately calculating, preparing, and filing all federal, state, and local payroll tax returns, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and deadlines.
Tax Withholding Procedures: Set up and maintain accurate tax tables and formulas within the payroll system to ensure correct tax withholdings for each employee. Stay updated with changing tax laws and adjust withholding procedures as required.
Tax Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and distribute annual employee tax documents, including W-2 forms, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting to tax authorities.
Tax Discrepancies and Audits: Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors related to payroll tax withholdings or payments. Proactively respond to any tax audits and serve as the main point of contact for tax authorities, providing required documentation and ensuring compliance.
Payroll System Maintenance: Review and analyze payroll system configuration to ensure accurate tax withholding calculations and compliance with tax laws. Collaborate with the payroll team to troubleshoot system-related tax issues and implement necessary updates.
Payroll Tax Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of payroll tax accounts to validate accuracy and identify any discrepancies. Resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll tax records, ensuring compliance with record retention policies. Organize and oversee the storage of all payroll tax-related documentation.
Continuous Process Improvement: Identify and propose process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of payroll tax processes. Stay updated with industry best practices and evolving payroll tax-related technology.
