Description

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for all activities related to the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions at Workhorse. The Accounting Manager will provide technical and administrative supervision for accounting personnel responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. 

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and expense vouchers.
  • Ensure timely billing and receiving / application of cash receipts.
  • Maintain and review daily cash log to validate cash receipts.
  • Prepare and oversee bi-weekly and ad-hoc vendor payment runs.
  • Respond to internal / external customer or vendor requests and inquiries. 
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in three-way match, duplicate payments, and aged customer / vendor balances.
  • Assist the team as needed with various tasks i.e., invoicing, discrepancy resolution, rate confirmations, general bookkeeping, account tracking, collection duties, etc.
  • Maintain and review list of recurring expenses (property taxes, utilities, professional services, etc.).
  • Ensure proper cutoff of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Maintain Customer and Vendor Master Files. 
  • Assist and oversee preparation of 1099 forms. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain sales and use tax processes in partnership with Finance/Accounting leadership.
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounts payable / accounts receivable processes in partnership with Finance/Accounting leadership. 
  • Provide reconciliation of account balances and maintain accurate records. 
  • Prepare, maintain, balance, and analyze financial data related to accounts payable / accounts receivable and report out to leadership.
  • Maintain and update Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform necessary month-end related activities for both accounts payable /accounts receivable, including budget to actual variance analysis.
  • Ensure process and procedures are following company policies, acceptable accounting practices, and applicable regulations. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for accounts payable / accounts receivable processes, accounting software and department policies.
  • Ensure SOX compliance in all areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare and deliver performance feedback to direct reports.
  • Mentor and coach team members to further develop their skill capability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelors’ degree required. 
  • Accreditation preferred. 
  • 5 years of experience of combined accounts payable and accounts receivable role desired.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a management/supervisory role.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and/or other accounting tools.
  • Strong understanding of General Ledger system and Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable processing.
  • Strong data entry skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and math skills.
  • Previous experience leading or participating in continuous improvement, automation projects preferred.
